Collaboration

Ideon is designed to be a multiplayer workspace. Whether you are brainstorming synchronously or leaving feedback for later, Ideon provides tools to keep everyone on the same page.

Real-Time Collaboration

When multiple users open the same project, they can see each other's cursors and edits in real-time.

  • Live Cursors: See where your teammates are looking and working.
  • Instant Updates: Changes to blocks, text, and connections are synced instantly to all connected users.
  • Conflict-Free: Ideon uses advanced technology (CRDTs) to ensure that even if two people edit the same text at the exact same time, their changes are merged intelligently without overwriting each other.

Sharing Projects

You can control exactly who has access to your work.

1. Inviting Members

You can invite specific people to your project via email.

  1. Click the Share button in the top-right corner of the canvas.
  2. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
  3. Select their role (Viewer or Editor).
  4. Click Invite.

2. Public Sharing

For broader sharing (e.g., with clients or on social media), you can enable a public link.

  1. Open the Share menu.
  2. Toggle Public Access to "On".
  3. Copy the generated link (/share/...).
  4. Anyone with this link can view the project in Read-Only mode. They do not need an Ideon account.

3. Requesting Access

If you try to open a link to a private project you don't have access to, you will see a Request Access screen.

  1. Click the Request Access button.
  2. The project owner will receive a notification.
  3. Once approved, you will gain access to the project and it will appear in your dashboard.

Feedback & Communication

Collaborating isn't just about editing content; it's also about communication.

Emoji Reactions

You can leave quick feedback on any block using emojis.

  • How to use: Hover over a block and click the Smile Icon to pick a reaction.
  • Use Cases:
    • 👍 to approve a design or idea.
    • 👀 to show you are reviewing something.
    • ✅ to mark a task as complete.
    • ❓ to ask for clarification.

Using Blocks for Communication

Since everything in Ideon is a block, you can use them to communicate directly on the canvas.

  • Note Blocks: Leave sticky notes with detailed feedback or instructions next to relevant content.
  • Link Labels: Double-click a connection line to add a label like "needs review", "blocks", or "related to". This clarifies why two items are connected.
  • Checklist Blocks: Create shared to-do lists for the team to track progress.
  • Kanban Boards: Visualize team workflows by organizing tasks across stages. You can drag tasks between Checklist and Kanban blocks to move items from planning into active workflows.

Permissions & Roles

  • Owner: The creator of the project. Can delete the project, manage all access settings, and lock blocks.
  • Editor: Can create, edit, move, and connect blocks. Can also invite other editors (if allowed).
  • Viewer: Can only view the canvas and move around. Cannot make any changes.
